The Elementary-Junior High Thorpe Assistance Program is a group of school and community members who are here to help our students deal with problems that are stopping them from doing well in school. The ETAP team is composed of teacher, counselors and family members. Students may have concerns about grades, being bullied or harassed, experimenting with or using alcohol or other drugs, having thoughts of hurting themself or someone else, someone hurting them physically or emotionally, illness or death of someone close to them, or major changes in their family like parents’ divorce. Anyone can refer someone for help. Students can even ask for help for themself or a friend. Teachers and other school staff who are worried about students can refer them. Students can go right to someone who is on the ETAP team to ask for help. If a students is referred to the ETAP Team parents are contacted. The staff on the ETAP team will respect privacy at all times. No one other than the ETAP team and adults who need to know will know that a student is involved with the ETAP program. ETAP is here to help and support students such as getting involved in activities in school, working with a mentor, or finding services in the community such as a professional counselor.
