It is a team for 6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students. The Reading Olympics competition is the culmination of a program [encompassing Carbon County schools] that has teams of students reading books from a prepared list for several months prior to the final event. Each team consists of 8 to 15 students who read from a list of approximately 45 books appropriate for their age and reading level. The book lists are prepared the previous year by teachers and librarians. During the competition, all teams participate in three rounds of questioning. In each round, every team is guaranteed twenty questions about the books on the list. Teams are never eliminated. At the completion of the three rounds, scores are tabulated and the top three highest-scoring teams are recognized and awarded prizes. Adults work as moderators, scorekeepers and team leaders during the competition (CLIU Reading Olympics). | ||
