Energize, Engage, Excel, Lead!
A fresh start! With great pleasure, I welcome you back to the 2022-23 school year and to our newly designed website. We begin this year with renewed vigor and purpose as we move our school forward with a safe, challenging, and rewarding educational experience. Whether you are new to our district or a part of our school community for many years, we thank you for choosing Jim Thorpe as your place to learn, grow, and become an Olympian. Here you will build the foundation for your future.
Academically – For a small school, we offer a rich sequence of complimentary courses to build your academic skills and interests. From 3D printing to Marine Science to World Issues to Ethical Hacking, JTAHS meets your learning needs. With classrooms equipped with a great variety of digital resources, students enhance their learning while using cutting-edge technology.
Physically - Our school offers a wide range of competitive sports and activities where everyone may find a fit and excel. If you want non-competitive activities, Pep club, Flags, or Ski club presents new physical opportunities.
Artistically - Visual and performing arts are integrated throughout the school year. Marching Band, Concert Band, Chorus, and Drama Club performances occur throughout the school year. Our school plays bring Broadway to our community. Our visual art department exhibits work in our building as well as in the Jim Thorpe Community.
Socially/Emotionally – Building social skills enable our students to think independently, and with confidence, while understanding others and the world. Our goal is to build critical thinkers! History Club, Mock Trial, Scholastic Scrimmage, and FBLA provide opportunities for students to witness the world outside of JT. Student Council, Canteen, or SADD helps students develop key skills in organization, social skills, and leadership.
Our expectations for you are high. We expect that your expectations for yourself are even higher. I sincerely believe JTAHS is a special place because of the effort that our students and staff put into it. Now is the time to start taking advantage of the many Olympian opportunities offered to you.
I wish you a very successful school year!
Sincerely,
Thomas Lesisko
