Instrumental Music Teacher – Mr. Eric P. Flowers

  • Hometown: Hershey, PA - 1989 Graduate of Hershey High School

  • Master’s Degree in Music Education 2003 from West Chester University

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education 1996 from West Chester University

  • Public School Music Teacher in various school districts in Eastern Pennsylvania for 25 years, with 16 years in the Jim Thorpe Area School District.

  • Has served in the U.S. Army Reserve 1989 – 1997 and 2007 - Present

  • Holds the rank of Chief Warrant Officer 3 serving as the Commander of the 380TH Army Reserve Band at Ft. Eustis, VA.

  • French Horn

  • Baritone

  • Trombone

  • Percussion (Drums)

Beginner Band

  • Open to grades 4th – 8th at both L. B. Morris and Penn Kidder Campus

  • In-school lessons are 30 minutes one day per week

  • Families must provide the instrument and lesson book which can be rented from http://www.Zeswitzmusic.com or from another vendor.

  • Practice and lessons are not graded during the first semester.  Formal evaluation (grading) starts the second semester.

  • Beginner Band members participate in a Spring Concert at the end of the school year.

Intermediate Band

  • Band members grades 5th – 8th who have completed one year of Beginner Band

  • In-school lessons are 30 minutes one day per week

  • Lessons and performances are evaluated

  • Perform in both Winter and Spring Concerts

 

High School Band

  • Open to all experienced band members grades 9th – 12th

  • Band class is held every day during last period

  • Music Theory lessons are taught throughout the course

  • Winter and Spring concert performances include Classical, Pop and Jazz styles of music

 

Marching Olympians

  • Marching Band open to all band members who have successfully completed beginner band and first year of intermediate band, unless “fast-tracked” due to extraordinary progress.

  • Must be able to perform more difficult music. 

  • Performances for all home and away football games, local parades, local events and school assemblies

  • A two-week band camp in August mandatory for full participation.

  • Must be able to memorize music and marching drill for the football season field show
